"Oh the stories we have made... "
Here is the place where we will post pictures and stories of yours and our flying adventures such as a first solo flight, a cross country trips, a fly-in, or anything in general. If you are interested in contributing e-mail us and let us know your story.
Airshow Story
How fortunate I was to be able to fly to Sun n Fun in April of 05. A friend has a C35 V-Tail Bonanza and I was able to fly left seat most of the trip. We all had the best time. The air shows were awesome; something about a P25, some T-6’s, F-16’s, and C-130’s that really gets your heart a pumping. The only thing I can say about the acrobat pilots is Oh My God, these guys and gal are awesome and definitely have no fear. I did do the Waldo Bi-Plane ride just once around the pattern. There were plenty vendors, planes, and static displays to keep you busy and assured that you were pretty well beat at the end of the day.
Comanche Pilot
Ms. Horton and I ran across each other on the web. She has been flying since 1992. She is an air racer too! Here is a link to an article she wrote for Comanche pilot. I am sure you will enjoy reading it as much as I did.
Female Luscombe Pilot at JZP
We debuted our line on July 4th at JZP’s Airport Appreciation Day. Here is what one female pilot said, “Thank you so much for debuting your product at our Pickens County Airport Appreciation Day! While you may have sold your product while here, you did more than that. You changed the idylls of an old Luscombe pilot. For so many years I tried to be like my flying brethren. You and my seven-year old (and the Cheetah Sisters) have shown me that's it okay to be a female Luscombe pilot. For we are sisters...” That was Deb McFarland. She also writes for The Southern Aviator. Here is a link to here July 4th story called Yeah Me!
Fly Kids
I could not resist posting these babies enjoying themselves in the plane. Both are going to grow up and be fighter pilots (Oh how I wish).
Palatka-Lake George
A view of Palatka Florida from a V-Tail Bonanza. We were on our way to Bike Week 2005. Nothing was more fun than flying to Florida, getting on the back of a Harley during bike week, enjoying the weekend, and then flying back home, except being PIC for the trip.
Clarice
I may have trained in a high wing plane, but I love the way my low wing piper handles. Her name is Clarice, just like the movie. She can go anywhere, just ask my partner, Jonathan, or me. She flys like a dream and lands, well lets say she floats down the runway until she wants to settle down. It is beautiful. One more thing she has is leather seats and window curtains. What more could a girl ask for?
Tower Visit
If you fly into or land in class D, C, or B airspace you talk to the tower. If you consistently fly into the same airport you build a verbal relationship with the tower crew. You wonder what they look like and you want to meet them. However, due to security issues the FAA can no longer allow tower tours at certain facilities. If you are fortunate, you can get permission to visit the tower; recently I was so fortunate. As a private pilot I found it very impressive. I never realized that there was so much to do up there and when they say they are looking out for you they are, literally. I have a new respect for the men and women I talk to all the time. I also have a face to put with a voice and now they do for me and my tail number. They day I visited with my friend Suzanne, a nasty thunderstorm hit. Tower and approach had to work together to safely separate and route the traffic (some jets and small planes were coming in) until the storm passed by and it was safe to land. We asked if we could get on the air to taxi or land a plane but they were pretty strict on the training and qualifications for the job so our request was quickly denied (We would not be true girls if we did not least ask). The next time I am asked to hold or circle around for awhile, I won't be annoyed; I am going to quickly comply: WILCO Peachtree Tower!
